Oops.  Google is preparing to be a domain name registrar.
The good news is that some pressure will ease the other registrars to price down. Yet this is extremely dangerous, may Google "up-index" websites having their domain name at Google.

Oh yeah. Google want ALL THE CHAIN from the internet. What's missing ? CDN service, BGP "safeguard", .. hell maybe the ICANN/ARIN will let them attribute IP address blocks. Let's put a name on it:  googlenet.
